How listings work
This directory exists to help small and medium-sized organisations find people who can help them use AI, and to tell them apart.
Where the information comes from
We find businesses through web searches, then read their own websites. Software extracts the details, and it has to quote the page each detail comes from: anything it can't quote is discarded rather than guessed. A person then checks each listing before it appears here. The one exception: a company that lists itself, confirming from an email address at its own web domain, appears straight away if its website clearly shows it helps organisations use AI here; a person looks over those afterwards. Each listing shows its sources and when they were checked.
A business that claims its listing can correct it and add details of its own, such as a description, case studies, or the contact details to show. Those are marked “Supplied by the business”, go live straight away and are checked by us afterwards. They never change the order of results, and the business is responsible for what it supplies.
What the badges mean
Not yet claimed: gathered from the business's website and checked by us, but the business hasn't confirmed it yet. Claimed: the business has confirmed the listing. Large firm: a national or international firm, so you can include or skip the big players.
How results are ordered
“Recommended” order puts listings with more verified detail first: detail we found on the business's own website, or that our reviewer confirmed there. The score, out of 12:
| Verified detail | Points |
|---|---|
| Case studies or projects on their website | 2 each, up to 6 |
| Services we confirmed they offer | 1 each, up to 3 |
| Contact details published on their website | 1 |
| Town or city, from their website | 1 |
| Description, quoted from their website | 1 |
Listings with the same score are ordered with those the business has claimed first (claiming is free), then A to Z. When you search for a town, nearer providers come first.
What never counts: anything a business adds or changes itself through its account (it's shown, marked “Supplied by the business”, but doesn't change the order), and anything paid for. Nobody can pay to rank higher, including Numlock Studio, which runs this directory.
Sponsored places. A service or region page can show up to two Sponsored listings, in a separate box marked “Sponsored” above the results. Only a business that offers that service, or works in that region, can sponsor its page. Sponsorship never changes the results below it or anywhere else.
Who is listed
Businesses of every size, from sole traders to large firms. Where we know it, each listing says whether it's a company or a sole trader, so you can tell firms from one-person practices. We only show contact details a business publishes on its own website, and a town rather than a street address.
Who runs this directory
AI Provider Directory is run by Numlock Studio, a software studio based in New Zealand. If Numlock Studio appears in the directory, its listing is marked “Runs this directory” and follows exactly the same rules as every other: it's built from its own website, checked the same way, and ordered by the same verified-detail rule. Running the directory never earns a better position.
